A Different Kind of Dinner Party!

I'm helping set up the holiday party for my office and someone recommended something that I have never heard of or even remotely thought of but it's brilliant and I HAVE to share it with y'all!
A regressive dinner party!
What?  Do you know what that means?  I didn't at first!
Basically, you start with dessert, then have dinner, then have a salad and/or appetizers.
I always want to start my dinner with dessert so this make so much sense to me!
Have you ever heard of this?
Have you ever done this?

If I were to host a party like this, here is what I would serve:
For the dessert:
Chocolate Italian Love Cake
For the entree:
One Pot Chicken Alfredo
For the salad:
Antipasto!  I can't post a link because I would use my mom's recipe which I have never posted to the blog!  I'll have to make it and post it soon, it's oh so yummy!
For the appetizer:
Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs
What would you serve?

Swoon...

I'm just gonna leave this here....

Gentleman, if you ever question why you should be dancing with your lady, this is why!  Ed Sheeran is not the hottest of the hot pop stars out there but oh can he make a girl swoon with these dance moves and lyrics!

Happy Saturday!

High Five for Friday is BACK

It's been nearly 6 months since I participated in High Five for Friday
and it is about time that I got back into the game!

How was your week?  Mine was pretty good, for a change!
Let's see what are the top 5 things I want to share with you????
1- Christmas baking has begun!  I made a few of my great aunt/ God mother's recipes over the weekend while my parents were away.  I can't wait to post some of the recipes next week!
2- Did I mention that my parents were away this weekend?  I had the whole house to myself for more than 2 hours!  OMG I need to move out!
3- I took Izzy, my parents dog, to see Jim on Thanksgiving and on Saturday.
I think she misses her Jimi.

4- Wal-mart to the rescue- I had a mishap with my gym bag this week.  While that wasn't really a highlight, it did make for a funny story, and I LOVE the top and necklace I ended up with while I was searching out a bra.
5- And finally, I know a lot of people are sick of all the Frozen videos going around but, I can't stop watching this!  It makes me so happy and I want that puppy!
How was your week?
Have any big plans for the weekend?

My Favorite Holiday Movies

Tis the season to curl up with some hot chocolate and enjoy a movie marathon!
I'm linking up 3 times this month with Chelsee and Christine for some great Christmas themed posts and today I'll be listing my favorite Holiday movies.
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation
Ummm... if you don't like this movie, I can't be friends with you anymore!
There are so many things that are so fantastic about this movie from the beginning to the end.  My favorite parts are the beginning when they get stuck under a tractor trailer and the middle when he's wishing people a "Merry Christmas" and gets a little feisty with his coworkers.  How can you not laugh at Cousin Eddie and his disgusting dog?  Or when the ice from the gutter crashes through their neighbors window but then it melts so there is no evidence?  Or when the grandmother wrapped her cat as a present?  But by far the best moment is when he FINALLY gets all the Christmas lights lit.  I could literally watch this movie over and over again, and all year round!

White Christmas
A beautiful, family friendly, classic that I've enjoyed because of my mom since I was little.  It has dancing and singing, and a lovely story line that ties into WWII- all things that I drool over.  Just watch it, enough said!

The Santa Clause
What I wouldn't give for Santa to fall off my roof so I could go to the North Pole!  The set on this movie is beyond amazing, I could watch the scenes in his bedroom with the little elf that makes him hot chocolate over and over again because every time I do, I find a new detail.

The Muppet Christmas Carol
My parents and I actually watched this on Thanksgiving while we ate our meal!  Again, it's a classic!  The muppets are hilarious!  The music is beautiful!  The story, of course, is beautiful!  If you've never seen this movie, you're doing something wrong!

Elf
Probably the only recent Christmas movie that's really gotten to me.  Will Ferrel is amazing!  Zooey Deschanel is amazing!  I can't get enough!  It makes my stomach hurt from laughing so hard and then it makes me cry at the end.  Love, love, love it!

A Comedy of Errors- Saved by the... Wal-mart!

Here's a little lesson for anyone trying to get healthy and making time to work out before work-
CHECK YOUR BAG BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE!
I don't know what was going on in my head last night but this morning was a fail that turned into a major win!
I got up at 4:45, was at the gym and on the arc trainer by 5:40.  I pumped out 45 minutes of cardio, burning 630 calories (according to the machine) then did a great ab work out.
Took my shower.
Blow dried and curled my hair.
Went to get dressed- had my socks, jeans, tank, sweater, underwear, but wait a minute, something is missing.....  MY BRA!  Panic!  I had to be to work in 25 minutes and the way traffic has been lately, even though I'm literally 3 miles from work, it would take all of that to get there, maybe more.
What should I do?
Well first I attempted to wash my sports bra and then dry it in those super intense hand dryers that are all the rage now.  After 5 minutes of trying to dry it was still soaked, I had to give up.
I'm a big chested girl, I CANNOT go to work without a bra... think.... think... THINK!
Wal-mart is next store and they're open!  Will they have my size?  Only one way to find out!
I threw on my clothes and ran out as quickly as I could, feeling like everyone in the gym could see that I was not wearing a bra!  I'm sure they couldn't, but hey I can't help being self conscious!
I drive over to Wal-mart, and literally run to the bra section.  They had my size (or what I thought was my size) and I grabbed 3 bras!  They were pretty and less than $10!  The last time I bought a bra it was $70, this was a steal!  Then I got ballsy; I was already late for work, might as well make the most of it, plus I saw the cutest top on my way to the bras.  I couldn't find the top I really wanted in my size but I did find a cute plaid button up, a comfy pull over sweater, and an owl necklace I've been dying to buy (it was only $5!)  Needless to say, I bought it all!
The check out man looked at me like I was nuts when I almost forgot the bag with the bras in it.  I smiled and laughed and said, "you don't understand, they're the reason I'm here right now!"  Then I ran to my car and realized I couldn't put the bra on because everyone could see in my car.
So I drove to work, changing out of the sweater and into the new plaid shirt as I drove- I couldn't help it, it was so cute!  Then I stuffed the bra in my purse, of course had to exchange pleasantries with a male coworker after I parked and walked into the office then nearly ran to the bathroom to pull on the bra.  It was at this point I realized the bra size is wrong!  The band is a little too tight and my basically spilling out the sides, but hey they're being held where they're supposed to be and you can't see how bad it really is since I'm wearing a few layers- thank God!
So I failed at packing my bag but Wal-mart saved me!  Now I know to double and triple check my bag at night and in the morning, and I think I'm going to start keeping some extra items in my trunk, just in case!
Do you work out in the morning and go straight to work?
Have you ever had anything like this happen before?  Please tell me I'm not the only one!
