A Comedy of Errors- Saved by the... Wal-mart!
Here's a little lesson for anyone trying to get healthy and making time to work out before work-
CHECK YOUR BAG BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE!
I don't know what was going on in my head last night but this morning was a fail that turned into a major win!
I got up at 4:45, was at the gym and on the arc trainer by 5:40. I pumped out 45 minutes of cardio, burning 630 calories (according to the machine) then did a great ab work out.
Took my shower.
Blow dried and curled my hair.
Went to get dressed- had my socks, jeans, tank, sweater, underwear, but wait a minute, something is missing..... MY BRA! Panic! I had to be to work in 25 minutes and the way traffic has been lately, even though I'm literally 3 miles from work, it would take all of that to get there, maybe more.
What should I do?
Well first I attempted to wash my sports bra and then dry it in those super intense hand dryers that are all the rage now. After 5 minutes of trying to dry it was still soaked, I had to give up.
I'm a big chested girl, I CANNOT go to work without a bra... think.... think... THINK!
Wal-mart is next store and they're open! Will they have my size? Only one way to find out!
I threw on my clothes and ran out as quickly as I could, feeling like everyone in the gym could see that I was not wearing a bra! I'm sure they couldn't, but hey I can't help being self conscious!
I drive over to Wal-mart, and literally run to the bra section. They had my size (or what I thought was my size) and I grabbed 3 bras! They were pretty and less than $10! The last time I bought a bra it was $70, this was a steal! Then I got ballsy; I was already late for work, might as well make the most of it, plus I saw the cutest top on my way to the bras. I couldn't find the top I really wanted in my size but I did find a cute plaid button up, a comfy pull over sweater, and an owl necklace I've been dying to buy (it was only $5!) Needless to say, I bought it all!
The check out man looked at me like I was nuts when I almost forgot the bag with the bras in it. I smiled and laughed and said, "you don't understand, they're the reason I'm here right now!" Then I ran to my car and realized I couldn't put the bra on because everyone could see in my car.
So I drove to work, changing out of the sweater and into the new plaid shirt as I drove- I couldn't help it, it was so cute! Then I stuffed the bra in my purse, of course had to exchange pleasantries with a male coworker after I parked and walked into the office then nearly ran to the bathroom to pull on the bra. It was at this point I realized the bra size is wrong! The band is a little too tight and my basically spilling out the sides, but hey they're being held where they're supposed to be and you can't see how bad it really is since I'm wearing a few layers- thank God!
So I failed at packing my bag but Wal-mart saved me! Now I know to double and triple check my bag at night and in the morning, and I think I'm going to start keeping some extra items in my trunk, just in case!
Do you work out in the morning and go straight to work?
Have you ever had anything like this happen before? Please tell me I'm not the only one!
I have left items out of my husband gym bags tons of time. Now I have a check list to go off of. I like to work out in the mornings.
ReplyDeleteI feel like Santa, I have a list and I'm checking it twice haha
DeleteI've often gone to work having forgotten things like my wallet, my phone, my keys... the best one was when I forgot my trousers - I should rapidly explain that I got up and put some jeans, and forgot to change into my trousers before going to work. Didn't realise until mid-morning when I suddenly thought "why are my legs blue?!?"
ReplyDeletehahaha thank goodness you at least had some form of pants on! I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only forgetful person!
Deleteha ha, I'm more impressed that you get up so early and go to the gym before you even go to work! Awesome :-)
ReplyDeleteIf I don't do it before work, I won't do it at all. I should note this is at least the 5th time I've attempted making this my routine and I'm only in week 3... I'm really trying to make it stick this time.
DeleteI am not a gym person. I never seem to get my money's worth. BUT when I did go to the gym, I was a member at a 24/7 place, so I always did it later at night. I liked when nobody was around. :)
ReplyDeleteI like going when no one is there as well! However, I noticed this weekend I went and it was super busy and I kicked my own butt because I was trying to keep up hahaha
